A six-month professional childcare programme combining practical learning, personal development and a supported placement with a family.

Programme structure

Learn. Practise. Grow.

Trainees build the knowledge, confidence, character and communication skills needed to care for children and work professionally in family homes.

Months 1–3

Classroom & practical training

Tutor-led lessons, demonstrations, role play, group discussion, independent study and assessments.

Months 4–6

Supported family placement

Apply learning in a real home while completing a competency portfolio with weekly guidance.

Introduction to Home-Based Childcare

The professional nanny's role, responsibilities and relationship with a family.

Growth and Development of Children

How children grow and develop from infancy through childhood.

Learning and Development Through Play

Using play and everyday activities to support learning.

Valuing and Respecting Children

Treating every child with dignity and responding to individual needs.

Care Routines, Health and Safety

Feeding, bathing, hygiene, sleep routines and basic first aid.

Safeguarding and Child Abuse

Recognising harm, maintaining boundaries and responding responsibly.

Faith, Family and Work

Character, relationships, responsibility and a biblical understanding of work.

Who can apply?

Young women aged 18–25 who have completed Grade 12, can read, write and speak English, have a genuine interest in children and can commit to the full programme.

An opportunity, with clear expectations.

Written application, aptitude test and interview
Identity verification and reference checks
Police clearance required before placement
Successful completion of assessments and training
Supported placement, portfolio and competency sign-off
Respectful participation in the programme's Christian activities

Admission is not automatic, and completing training does not guarantee employment. Both the family and trainee must freely agree to a proposed placement.
